Great vibe since you are with many other Brazilians instead of just tourists. The beach is usually busy because locals from all over Rio come to the famous beach. Many great facilities, showers, public changing rooms and plenty of vendors for food and drinks. The salesman aren't very pushy too. There is also a hose from the sea to the start of the beach while has holes on them so you can walk on the wet sand so you don't burn your feet on the boiling sand (great idea). A must visit beach, even for a couple of hours in Rio. Many other beaches in Rio which will be quieter but Copacabana is the overall the best hence why it is famous.

I hate to rate a beach so low as the rating reflects only on a negative experience I had. 1 man tried to distract my friend whilst another leaned over from behind me and tried to grab my phone, I didn't let go and got dragged from the bench. Police were maybe 200m away.
Don't take any valuables, keep tour phone hidden and your wits about you.
Hopefully Rio are trying to combat this issue.

Copacabana beach is everything you'd expect it to be...a 4 kilometre beach stretch absolutely bustling with everything from vacationers to locals out to have a good time to beach hawkers selling everything from bikinis to local artefacts. The water is clean and the tide (at least in December) is mild enough to swim in. Loved it.
Gorgeous beach. Rent a bike and cruise up and down the cycle track
