The Acropolis Museum (Greek: Μουσείο Ακρόπολης, Mouseio Akropolis) is an archaeological museum focused on the findings of the archaeological site of the Acropolis of Athens. The museum was built to house every artifact found on the rock and on the surrounding slopes, from the Greek Bronze Age to Roman and Byzantine Greece. It also lies over the ruins of a part of Roman and early Byzantine Athens. The museum was founded in 2003, while the Organization of the Museum was established in 2008. It opened to the public on 20 June 2009. Nearly 4,000 objects are exhibited over an area of 14,000 square metres. The Organization for the Construction of the new museum is chaired by Aristotle University of Thessaloniki Professor Emeritus of Archaeology, Dimitrios Pandermalis.

Multilevel well laid out museum holding various statues and sculpture from the nearby acropolis. Sadly many of the pieces are if course well worn with age, but the careful positioning in displays gives a sense of what they may have looked like at the height of their glory. One improvement might be for the museum to give more context to some of the pieces (e.g rather than just identifying a statue, explain some more about the mythological characters depicted). This is done for a handful of carvings, but not in great detail - it's worth reading up a little on Greek mythology before you come!

A grand place of architecture to show case the beauty and splendor of the golden age of Ancient Greece, what a tribute to the Acropolis mirrored in the reflection from the museum, striking!!! The entrance alone is worthy, and sets the tone of what to expect inside. Inside the area is spacious and well thought out and there is a flow of how things are to go, an order as such for the floors above . From small items at the lower levels to the pride of all of the Greek Empire, The Acropolis, and how it would have been at its glory. As you look at all the pieces that are missing, I felt kind of sad, with a bit of a tear in the eye, you choke up a bit. Extraordinary, good job. Its a must to see!!!

A great classical museum! Parthenon friezes and sculptures exhibition on top floor is very well made as it copies the exact size and scale of the temple. Definitely should stay for several hours.

Acropolis museum is close to the acropolis mount. It has 3 floor of thousands of years of history and legend waiting to amaze you. Entry fee is a nominal 5 euro. It has a book shop with important information and a cafe to relax. The ground floor has a soviner shop. The duty hands in each level is happy to help you at any time. On the ground floor photography is not allowed.

The museum is really interesting. Well designed inside and out. Not overwhelming. Just right. I highly recommend it.
