Amazing place, amazing lake. Beautiful, lovely place...a must visit for tourist. It's pretty, we are happy we didn't stay there longer than a day. The water is awfully cold and there aren't many attractions around the lake.

Goygel is a magnificent lake in the western part of Azerbaijan, located on the territory of Goygel region, on the northern slope of the Murovdag ridge, at the foot of the Kapaz mountain, in the gorge of the Akhsu river. The resulting dam is Lake Goygel. However, according to the research of many authors, the lake has a glacial origin. On the territory of the lake there are 423 species of trees and shrubs, as well as medicinal plants. Of these, 76 species are trees and shrubs, the rest form grass cover. On the shores of the lake are found deer, roe deer, bear, wild boar, mountain goat, wolf, fox, jackal, badger, porcupine, wild cat, lynx. Trout is also found in the lake. The lake is located on the territory of the Goygel national park. The park was created in 2008 on the territory of Goygel district. The total area of the park is 12.755 hectares (127.55 sq. Km).
