Les Invalides (French pronunciation: [lezɛ̃valid]), commonly known as Hôtel national des Invalides (The National Residence of the Invalids), or also as Hôtel des Invalides, is a complex of buildings in the 7th arrondissement of Paris, France, containing museums and monuments, all relating to the military history of France, as well as a hospital and a retirement home for war veterans, the building's original purpose. The buildings house the Musée de l'Armée, the military museum of the Army of France, the Musée des Plans-Reliefs, and the Musée d'Histoire Contemporaine, as well as the Dôme des Invalides, a large church with the tombs of some of France's war heroes, most notably Napoleon Bonaparte.

Amazing the amount spent on this tomb considering the guy lost the war. A very spectacular monument to Napoleon principally but others included. The signage to the various museums in this building could be a lot better. Many signs will show the direction then you find yourself having to open doors to find where you are meant to be going... but still a 5 star place.

I toured the dome area. In a word: Magnificent. The dome is amazing, but the draw is the look over into the Bonaparte crypt area. Just being that close to history is humbling. You are able to descend to the lower floor for a more intimate view, also. There are other crypts in other rooms just off the main floor. To be a morbid scene, it's really engaging. I felt that tourists enjoyed it. The outdoor grounds are pleasant, too.

Amazing architecture. Lots of history here. Very well organized. The cafe is nice. You must see Napoleon Bonaparte's tomb.

History can be understood in a much simpler way if you reach here. Definitely a place to visit.
